DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – The city of Dunwoody was able to improve its 911 response times after taking over the service from DeKalb County.

Some residents in Brookhaven told 11Alive that their 911 calls went unanswered. Officials in DeKalb County launched an investigation, but blamed many of the problems on cell phones.

Dunwoody has been able to respond to emergencies faster than county officials. In 2010, it took DeKalb County 4 minutes and 33 seconds to dispatch police and firefighters to the scene of an emergency. Dunwoody was able to cut that number nearly in half, to 2 minute and 21 seconds in 2013.
